It is indeed true that there are myriad of stellar places here in our country. Almost in every part of our motherland, there is always a marvelous landscape, which is definitely admirable. We are truly fortunate for having these wonderful creations given by the Almighty God.
One of these beautiful sites is the Wawa Dam, which is located at Montalban, Rizal. Our squad was indeed prosperous for we had witnessed the stunning waterfall, erogenous formation of rocks, and the historical sites of Wawa Dam.
Another thing is that if you’re looking for some sort of relaxation and your budget is not sufficient for you to visit some exclusive resorts, Wawa Dam would be a great place to visit. The place was too historic and calm for you to be curious about and consider it as a place to visit. Compared to luxury and expensive hotels and resorts that offers various services. Wawa Dam surely offers you the best view and feels the serenity over the place.


SOME FACTS ABOUT WAWA DAM

Wawa Dam also known as the Montalban Dam is created for the citizens of Metro Manila to gain water needs. The Americans in 1909 era commanded to create the dam to meet the said purpose. It was the only dam that supports Metro Manila until Angat Dam is not yet created. Until dams were rising as a call in the insufficient needs of water in Metro Manila. The dam was abandoned because of the present of Angat Dam.

The area was declared a Protected Landscape in 1996. It is managed by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Department of Tourism, with Rodolfo Roncesvalles acting as DENR custodian of the caves and Eduardo Dapitan as tourism OIC.

The cave was turned into a Japanese armory in 1943. Men of Generals Hideki Tojo and Tomoyuki Yamashita died here from American fire. A 1977 concrete marker commemorating them has been fixed on the cliff wall over the cave’s mouth, above which is a metal plate inscribed with Japanese characters with English translation that reads: “Give them eternal rest, O Lord, and let them share Your glory.” The cave was declared a National Geological Monument in 1985. It is closed for rehabilitation until further notice.

Wawa is the birthplace of Montalban’s first mayor and Senate president Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Sr., after whom the town was renamed in 1982. It is a hot spot of history, mythology, ecology and tourism—so small and remote a place yet of vast significance to our national culture.
